Foot and Ankle Pain and Instability

At Ortho ARC Brisbane, we focus our efforts on managing your foot and ankle pain and instability. We manage a variety of trauma and degenerative foot and ankle conditions in conjunction with our allied health colleagues at multiple sites across Brisbane.

Ankle Arthroscopy

Ankle arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows us to diagnose and treat a variety of ankle conditions with precision and reduced recovery time.

During this procedure, small incisions are made around the ankle, and a tiny camera (arthroscope) is inserted to provide real-time visualisation of the joint. This approach enables us to effectively address issues such as loose cartilage, bone spurs, or damaged ligaments without the need for extensive open surgery.

Lateral Ligament Stabilisation

For patients experiencing chronic ankle instability or recurrent sprains, ankle ligament stabilisation surgery may be recommended. This procedure involves reconstructing the weakened ligaments to restore stability and function to the ankle joint. By combining the advantages of arthroscopy with effective ligament stabilisation techniques, we strive to enhance our patients' mobility and overall quality of life, allowing them to return to their normal activities with confidence and reduced pain.

Achilles Tendon Surgery

Achilles tendon surgery is a specialised procedure aimed at addressing injuries and conditions affecting one of the most crucial tendons in the human body—the Achilles tendon. Commonly indicated for conditions such as Achilles tendon ruptures or chronic tendonitis that do not respond to conservative treatments, this surgery seeks to restore function and alleviate pain

Bunion Correction and Lesser Toe Surgery

Bunion and lesser toe surgery are effective solutions for individuals suffering from painful foot deformities that can significantly impact quality of life. A bunion, or hallux valgus, is characterised by a bony bump at the base of the big toe, often leading to discomfort, swelling, and difficulty in finding proper footwear. We utilise advanced techniques to realign the bones and reduce the prominence of the bunion, providing relief from pain and restoring proper toe function.

With lesser toe surgery, we address deformities such as hammertoe and mallet toe, which can cause significant discomfort and difficulty in movement. By correcting these conditions through surgical intervention, we aim to alleviate pain, improve foot mechanics, and enhance the overall function of the toes, allowing you to walk comfortably and confidently again.
